Diseases and invasive species
Infectious diseases and invasive species are one of the main threats to planet Earth’s biodiversity. Amphibian chytridiomycosis, a deadly fungal disease that affects the skin of these animals, is recognized as the worst infectious disease ever recorded among vertebrates and is also a major threat to Darwin’s frog conservation. Thus, one of the central actions of this conservation strategy is to investigate infectious diseases and invasive species that could affect Darwin’s frogs, as well as to mitigate the negative effects that these threats might represent for these species.
